Dallin and I ran another 4 Peaks 5k this past weekend. 4 Peaks races are smaller, a lot of fun and for great causes, so we were excited for another one. This one benefited the crisis nursery. Since becoming a mother myself, I have become more sympathetic when it comes to little, innocent children who are dealt a rough hand at life. Life isn't fair and it breaks my heart!! I can't imagine my own little guy being abused or neglected, nor any other little babies or kids [or animals!!]. Needless to say, it was a nice event to take part in.
Ben's still out with a back injury. His MRI scans are being reviewed by a new specialist! It's getting so bad, Ben can't even stand at the stove without his legs falling asleep, let alone deal with the pain of them. It's been almost 7 months!
This run was primarily on dirt trails. It had some small rolling hills that went in/out of washes. We were warned that it's SNAKE SEASON but luckily did not see any. I'm sure had we, they'd have been rattlers.
Lately, Dallin has been working on running negative splits and finishing strong and he's been rocking it. He finished 4th/222 overall and 1st in his age group!
Below you can see me coming into finish. The lady finishing at this moment took first in my age group and beat me by 2 seconds! The 3rd overall female finished 4 seconds prior to her, too. So close to the podium.
I have never been on a podium before. Not even when I was the quickest in my running life. One day!
My stats: 2nd/38 in age group, 5/144 gender, 15/222 overall. My new age group is more competitive than my old one. It might be the most competitive one, so I guess I just will have to get that much faster!
I would like that sub 24:00 now, please.
My splits were 8:50, 8:47, 8:35, and 7:15 for the final stretch, so I got my negative splits too, however, I got hot and it was a mental battle towards the end and my cadence was a bit slower.
B3 wouldn't look towards the sun, but he wore my silver medal. :]
