38 Weeks - Baby's Eviction Notice

My age:  30!

How far along:  38 weeks - most likely my last week of pregnancy!  My tummy got taller this week and I can feel it.  It's amazing how fast it can grow.

Labor signs:  There was not much progression at my 37 week appointment, which, considering baby is still breech, I am a little relieved to hear.  Dr. L said labor with the first child is typically longer, so a breech baby usually isn't a big concern if I were to go into labor.  But that still just scares me.  What if I went into labor during rush hour...

How big is baby:   According to the baby emails I get, he is about 6.8 lbs or so.  I'm guessing that's probably pretty accurate and we'll get another estimate this week after the ultra sound (I'm guessing).  I can tell he has grown considerably over the past week because I am getting much more uncomfortable and notice a lot more head butting.

What have you been up to:   Like previously mentioned, my doctor's appointment was nearly identical to week 36 with little labor progression and lil B hadn't rotated at all.  Baby received his eviction notice and will be arriving on Tuesday, September 16th, via C Section at 9:30 in the morning (aka 9 days away)!

^^that is also my mom's birthday!

Ben and I took Infant CPR (ah ah ah ah stayin' alive, stayin' alive) which completes the courses we wanted to take during pregnancy (Birthing Basics, Will I Ever Sleep Again?, Breastfeeding, Infant CPR) and we are feeling as ready as I think we can.

We started packing our to-go bags a couple of weeks ago and mine is complete at this point, including the diaper bag.

Exercise/Activity Level:  Still doing CrossFit.  I will miss going with Ben, so I am soaking it up.

Maternity clothes:  I got a cute tee from my mom that has a baby's face peeking through at the belly (the orange tee you can see down below).  I wore it on my birthday and got a ton of compliments on it.  :]  Thanks ma.

Stretch marks:   None so far.

Belly Button:   Flat.  Perhaps the outie is reserved for baby #2.

Sleep:   Not so great.  But home stretch ahead!

Best Moment of the Week:  My birthday over the extended weekend.  It was a lot of fun!!  I got my seafood allowance in for the week at Angry Crab Shack, and I was spoiled by my family and Ben.  I also got a prenatal massage.  :D

Ben added a little bit of cake mix to these waffles.  :D

And of course, Rykar.  Ben puts him clear down the hall, puts dinner scraps in his bowl and makes him wait to get them.  lol  He'll wait all day.  Such a good doggy.

Worst Moment of the Week:   This is TMI (like 90% of pregnancy related things), but throwing up when you have weak to no bladder control is memorable.

Food cravings:  None.  Food has lost its luster these last few weeks.

Food aversions:   Same as before.

Symptoms:  I'm dealing with daily headaches.  The swelling has gone down which is awesome.

We learned about baby dropping and becoming engaged near the end of pregnancy, but I don't know to what extent that happens when a baby is breech?  Maybe he's engaging his lil bum... :]  The past few days I have been having constant Braxton Hicks and a whole lot of pelvic and tailbone pain.  I have had moments of wondering if we're going to make it to the 16th.  But I am having less BH today.

Movement:  All of the time.

Gender:   Lil boy!

What I’m looking forward to:   I'm looking forward to hearing his cry for the first time and to seeing how happy Ben will be at first sight.  We are so excited!!!

What I’m nervous about/praying for:   The C section recovery period.  I have never had an incision greater than like 3/4" long nor a surgery where I couldn't recover like so...

What I miss:   Fitness goals.

Next appointment:   Wednesday, 9/10/14 - my final appointment to check to see if baby has flipped (which at this moment I'm fairly certain he hasn't).  Then it's 6 days until baby's birthday!  TBC...

  1. First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Sorry I missed it! Being away with my family makes me forget everything. Can't wait for my regular routine to come back. Sorry to hear about the Breech position, but on the flip side you don't have to wait forever and you don't have to be induced! Everybody I know who was induced had the delivery of hell. Good job on the classes, we loved them, so much easier than reading books :) It's the final countdown! So excited!!

  2. So exciting!! Must be great to know ahead of time when things will go down (lol).

  3. Oh man, I totally hear you on the bladder thing. Unfortunately, it gets worse with each pregnancy. If it doesn't get better again after this, I'm doing surgery or something! Best of luck with everything! We are so excited for you and Ben. Your first baby is so special as you are learning how to be a parent for the first time and everything is new. It's very special.
