Family and a 5k

My sister drove into town to visit, and to run the Illuminations 1/2 Marathonso Ben and I decided to run the St. Nick at Night 5k (the same race, just the shorter distance...with a different name).  My dad flew into town and he opted to watch B3 and spectate with my bro.  It was a night race which is perfect for all of us evening runners!  FUN.

I was stoked to run even though I knew it could be rough, but it went great!  My only goal, aside from finishing, was to have negative splits.  I had no idea what my pace would be, but it was often dictated by the bottlenecks.  My splits were:  10:54, 10:03, 9:24.

Towards the end, Ben and I both missed a 5k turn off (it was a bit confusing), so we ended up running our own distances.  The course could've used a little extra sign-age.

Ben ran a 30:16 and his GPS caught 3.66 miles, but I think he ran closer to 4+ miles total because his watch pace splits were:  6:54, 7:07, 7:05 and 14:05.  I don't think Ben could run a 14:05 pace if he tried!  The weird thing is he still got 1st in his AG and I got 8th.  So.... ?

Below are my stats:

It has been a long time since I have contributed to the medal collection that I am very excited.

My dad was in heaven watching lil B.  It was low 60s/high 50s, basically freezing by Arizona standards so everybody was bundled up like winter, but it was good running weather!

I didn't get any pictures, but Jolie ran a 2:02 which was awesome on that course.

That night we had a slumber party at our house with the fam and we all got up to go to 9am church.  It was our first time back and B's first time ever so he wore his lil tux.  Its so fun to bring him around!!

As seen on the way to church...

The new Phoenix, Arizona, LDS temple opened up just a week ago.  It is gorgeous.

Earlier I stopped at the dealer since we drive by it all of the time.  The salesmen loved Bentley and insisted I come inside for a picture in front of a really nice Bentley.  haha  (They're all the same to me!)  B's name really has nothing to do with the car.  If we were naming after a car we liked, it'd probably be Porsche.  :P

Poor B doesn't have a say in anything he does these days.  And same with Rykar.  Haha being a mom is SO FUN.

We love this time of year!  If I can wake up, we may be running a Turkey Trot this week too.  B's pediatrician gave us the go-ahead for stroller running.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Remember Remember the Month of November

I have been wrapping the boys up because winter has arrived and we're chilly as.

Then the news showed the actual definition of chilly.  OMG.  Poor Buffalo, New York.
^^I think I'd be shoveling my roof!

I dug out a TBT pic of the snow of '94 when I lived in Layton, Utah.  I really enjoyed the snow until I started driving in it and we lived in a hilly area.

This weekend my family and I are running a "winter" race (most of us 5k, a couple 1/2s).  It's a night race and covers much of a golf course.  I have been trying to ease my legs/body into it all, thus have had multiple portions of me incredibly sore for the past three weeks, so it is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r.  The most I've done is 2.5 miles so my goal is to just finish.

I've also been CrossFitting and Ben came and watched my class with our little nugget which was so fun!  Ben would walk around and set Bentley down by me and snap some pics.  If you look closely he has a Mickey Mouse beanie on.  :D

A couple nights this week Bentley decided to wake up a LOT (hello 30 minutes of sleep).  It felt like the first month of newborn-ism with the exhaustion levels I've been at, so yesterday I bit the bullet and went on a little operation caffeine NOW.

Did you know there is a Mountain Dew Lemonade?  It's delicious.  Not anywhere Monster ballpark, but it'll do.  (I took this pic just for this post.  Ha.  I guess it happens when you just sit connected to your pump-in-style for 3+ hours a day.  [Hurry up and wait.])

Sometimes I still can't believe I'm a mom and that Ben and I created someone so incredibly adorable.  It has been the most terrifying thing I've done, especially when I put him down for bed/naps... I hope that part gets less terrifying as he gets older (which is why we use this baby movement monitor which I highly recommend because I always know he's breathing).

I have absolutely loved being a mommy to B3 and we think he is the cutest!

He discovered his tongue.  :P

Have a wonderful day and stay warm!  TGIaF.

P to the S.  I am out of bday giftcard $ so the boot madness shall stop, but these are the latest ones and I love love them:

Two Months!

Bentley hit two months!!  Here we go...

He weighed in at 11 pounds which puts him in the 35th percentile!!  That's big news because he gained close to 3-1/2 pounds in one month, and went up 29%!!  The first time Dr. N met Bentley a month ago (since we switched pediatricians) he wondered if Bentley was a preemie, so he was very pleased!!

Bentley measured in at 22" which puts him in the 17th percentile.  Once tall and skinny, he's now shorter and a tubs.

Last week we started putting him in 0-3 month onesies and diapers.  He's kind of been in between newborn and 0-3 month sizes for the most part.

He has started to smile a lot, especially first thing in the morning.  He's also discovered his tongue!  (Some of the pics are kind of blurry.  It's hard work multi-tasking.  haha)

We finally ventured out to the outdoor mall and then to Organ Stop for dinner, but for the most part Bentley hasn't had too many adventures out in public.  I'm still pretty anxious about it.  We both stayed low-key for much of the first two months and then the first time I went back to the gym I came down with a sore throat/headache, etc a couple of days later.  Stress.

He experienced his first holiday, Halloween!  He mostly slept through it, but he still dressed up like a total champ!  Two weeks later that costume won't fit him!

He focuses in on so many things (especially loves the fan above), and he recognizes mommy and daddy and our voices.

He's still a bit too small for the Bumbo.  lol

He had his two month shots this week and that was terribly sad!  I'm feeling a little better about taking him out more this next month.

Between acid reflux (which we just started meds for) and gas pains, he only does shorter stints of sleeping at night.  We did move him to his crib last week so even if I'm up every 2-3 hours, I get some better sleep.  Babies are so loud when they sleep!!

He still likes to sneak a hand or two out and occasionally I still find him with an entire appendage broken free of the swaddle.

He is a pretty well mannered baby boy these days and if he fusses it's usually for the obvious reasons, but it still is so sad and breaks my heart!!

He finally has a pair of shoes that stay on his feet!  They are huge, but they don't come off at least.  They used to be my brothers' shoes and I may have even worn them myself.

We love this precious little boy.

K I'll stop now.  haha

Have a nice week!
